"福岡の皆さん、『七社会』って知ってます？
　『七社会』おそらく福岡で政治関係の仕事をしている人でこの言葉を知らない人はいないと思う。しかし、この1ヶ月半たらずで、この言葉を知らない人に何人か会った。　私も、以前からあたり前のように使っていたので気にしたこともなかたが、七社会（ななしゃかい）とは、福岡の有力企業、九州電力・福岡銀行・西部ガス・西日本鉄道・西日本銀行・福岡シティ銀行・九電工の七社（七社で作る会）のことを指す。役員は、役員同士の、部長は部長同士という具合に、ポストに応じて集まりが（会）があるのである。全てにあてはまるのかどうかは解らないが、大体、各地方の拠点都市には、地場の有力企業の総称を括る言葉がある。"
